The House of Representatives’ investigation into an alleged fake government agency has entered a fresh phase, with lawmakers seeking clarification over an appointment letter reportedly presented by the organisation’s alleged Director-General.
The Chairman of the Ad Hoc Investigative Committee, Hon. Yusuf Gagdi, reportedly raised questions about the authenticity of the document attributed to Matthew Adeniyi during the committee’s proceedings.
Gagdi also reportedly stated that the evidence before the committee had not shown any credible involvement of the Chief of Staff to the President, Mr. Femi Gbajabiamila, in the alleged activities of the organisation.
The committee is now examining the circumstances surrounding the alleged appointment, the documents presented and the operations of the organisation in order to determine whether it had any legitimate government backing.
The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation and the Accountant-General of the Federation also reportedly provided information to the committee concerning the status and legality of the alleged agency.
With the probe still ongoing, the committee is expected to review further evidence before presenting its final report.
The outcome of the investigation is expected to shed more light on the controversy and establish the facts surrounding the alleged agency.
